Guaraná is a plant found near the Amazon basin, commonly found in Brazil. It is best known for the seeds from its fruit, comparable to the size of a coffee bean.
The seed of Guaraná contains twice the amount of caffeine found in coffee beans. For reference, Guaraná contains 2-4.5% of caffeine, while coffee beans contain 1-2%.

Guaraná contains chemicals similar to caffeine such as theophylline and theobromine which act as stimulants that can be used to treat low blood pressure, fatigue, fevers, and more. Guaraná also contains tannins, which help to slowly release the caffeine, producing a long-lasting energy plateau and preventing a crash/fatigue.
Natural Guaraná can be very bitter. It tastes best when its extracts are mixed/dissolved into high energy beverages, where the flavor can be altered to taste.
